If you are a skateboarding beginner, then you are in for some bumps, bruises as well as some extremely fun times. You want in on the action and you want to be like all those pro skateboarders. To get you started learning to skateboard, here is basically what you need to do.

You have to have the right gear. Your future broken head and brain damage could have been prevented if you had the right gear.

Beginner Trick Skateboard

The most important thing to learn is using the skateboard. Your skateboard is your second skin. Your board is your life. People wouldn't get very far if they were all uncomfortable driving their cars or riding their bicycles, so in the same way you have get comfortable with your skateboard.

Learning to Skateboard - The Basics

How your skateboard feels to you is important. What is the width and length of your board? When you stand on your board, does it feel good or are you too loose and wobbly? Jump on your board and see if it flips and moves?

One of the basics of skateboarding is your moves. You should have at least two basic moves, some people can manage three. Just like with roller or ice-skating, you must know how to skate. Are you left or right handed? The reason you need to know is that will effect how you skate. You push off with your left foot because you are right handed and vice versa. That also determines how you will start future new skateboarding tricks.

When you first try to skate, you usually lose your board and either fall on your butt or do some great tripping and stumbling moves to catch yourself. That's good- it is part of learning. You can try to do a power push and then little moves after that for correction. Or if you are not a power person, then simply use the walking point of view. This is taking one step at a time. This is one foot on the board and one foot not on the board that is pushing. When you step forward you are pushing the board with the other foot.

Now, you will be getting comfortable skating and now can have both feet on the board. But, how do you stop the board? Foot breaking is the best way to try. Just take off your back foot and drag it to stop your motion. If you have experience on the board, try heel dragging. Make sure the front half of your foot is still on the board, and then press your heel of your back foot down to stop the board. Most of the time the board will flip up and you can pick the board up. If things just get bad and you are about to bail into the stands, don't be afraid jump off the board like you are abandoning ship.

Now, after you learn to skateboard, it is time to start learning cool moves like all your favorite celebrities do. Like, sliding and grinding or doing flip tricks. It's all up to you how you want to do your moves. You never know, you could be a superstar in the making with your unique way of skateboarding!
