Regardless of which way you place your feet, there is no right way to ride a skateboard. Just do what feels natural to you when your riding. Use your front foot to push off then return to the center as you roll forward. You should practice pushing off and returning to a balanced starting position a few times until it becomes routine.

When your rolling on your skateboard you should keep your legs slightly bent to maintain a proper center of balance. You can also place your hands out to your sides to help you maintain your balance better. To stop rolling you simply place your back foot on the ground or drag your foot across the ground to stop your momentum.

As a beginner you should seek the help from people experienced in skateboarding, because learning from an experienced skateboarder is the quickest way to learn how to ride properly. You should also hold off on performing any dangerous stunts until you become more comfortable with your board.
