Although buying your first wakeboard for this summer may seem a little scary because of all of the options out there, it really shouldn't be. Wakeboards come in a wide variety of size, shape and style and are made for people from beginners to professionals.
Choosing the right kind of wakeboard can be broken up into two categories including riding style and level of ability. If you come from a surfing or water skiing background, you will probably prefer a single-tip board. The design is pointed in the front and square in the back, much like the shape of a surfboard. If you come from a snowboarding or skateboarding background, you will probably want to go with a twin-tip board. Twin-tips are more even all around like a snowboard or a skateboard.
Beginner Trick Skateboard
If you are just a beginner you should go for a square railed board because they offer control, stability and allow long cuts through the wake. Square tips make it more difficult to make air tricks and flips so once you get good enough, you may want to upgrade.
In you are an advanced wake-boarder, you will most likely prefer a board with round rails. Round rails make tricks easier to land because it's less likely that you will catch an edge and it also enables the board to go faster through the water.
Although there are many things about your wake board that can be customized to your liking, choosing the shape and style of it is most important.
