This is what I have for the introduction so far. Please comment and let me know what you think. I am still in the editing process so am open to suggestions. The video will cover all of the tricks shown and the idea is to give you the best and easiest way to learn all of the basic skateboarding tricks. I know that I have made tutorials for these tricks already but what most people are missing is the order to learn them and how important it is to not skip steps because what I find most is people coming to me to get help with there kickflips but really whats most out is all the tricks from ollie to kickflip that were never learned inbetween. Its very important to learn them in the proper order without skipping steps because you increase your board control with each trick building up to the harder tricks. Anyways I hope you like the video! If you guys need help with any trick visit this page (http and leave your questions and videos there. I will only be taking questions on that page from now on to cut down on the confusion of using so many different pages. Thanks for your guys help and support and GET OUT AND SKATE! 3 Ways To Learn To Do Tricks On A Skateboard - Surprise, These Are From A Mom

My son spent the better part of a year trying to learn to Ollie. Then it was months of daily trials and sheer frustration until he landed a solid kick-flip. He was 10 years old and I was really stuck on how to help him learn to do tricks on a skateboard. I mean I knew learning is sometimes frustrating but he tried so hard I wanted to figure out a way to help. So with some research and trial and error I learned the three best ways to help my child learn to do skateboard tricks and progress to being a solid skater.

Skateboard summer camp: skateboarding is wonderfully personal so sending him to camp with a whole bunch of other kids with varying levels of ability and experience gave my son the chance to learn with beginners and pros. He was not intimidated or discouraged. He was able to imitate a variety of skating styles and try on what worked best for his size, stance and ability. Skaters are also very supportive of each others efforts; they all laugh at wipe outs and slap their boards as applause at tricks well landed. Camps are not inexpensive but do offer a great experience and many lifelong friends.

Teen coach: if you live near a skate park, ask around for the name of an older teen that might want to coach your child. He probably won't be a seasoned teacher, but a person who is a good skateboarder can easily and slowly demonstrate skateboarding techniques for your beginner. Plus, younger kids always think it's cool to hang out with older skateboarders. Your driveway or a parking lot is fine for learning the beginning tricks. You will probably want to keep an eye on the sessions, but do stay low. No skateboarder wants his Mom cheering him on, especially in front of his teen bud!

Guides to skateboarding: a trick tip DVD is not a great learning tool by itself. The teaching is vague and fast-paced trick demos are not helpful in telling your skater if his stance is wrong or he is popping the board hard enough. There is little step-by-step instruction that really works. And to follow them, your skater needs to try the tricks near the TV. Not such a good idea.

The most efficient way is to use a guide book along with a DVD. The best guides are books that break down all the steps of a trick, including the stance, the upper body position, the timing, how to make the trick go higher, etc. Your child can read, look at the photos, re-read and even ask you for some advice. Just search the Web for some great resources.

Step by Step Skateboarding Tips For Beginners

Skateboarding is acrobatic game that requires super skills with great control of balance. This sport attracts fans of all ages. No matter where you from, you will love to see experts like Tony Hawk, Jean Postek, and Steve Caballero displaying outstanding acrobatic skills. If you have that desire to have fun with a style, then these tips are definitely not to be missed.

Skateboarding Tips for Beginners #1 - How to Start

Beginner Trick Skateboard

Every sport has a set of its own rules and basic fundamentals. Skateboarding has its own basic strategies and tricks. First you must learn few basic things and then continue the tips accordingly. Avoid showing off with ollie (an aerial skateboarding trick) even though you are starting off for the first time. If you really want to learn then you must get comfortable around the board.

Step by Step Skateboarding Tips For Beginners

Skateboarding Tips for Beginners #2 - Get to Know Your Board

Identifying the names of the parts of skateboards would really help. If you learn how to assemble a board, then you truly are a skateboard fan. For beginners it is recommended not to buy skateboard right away. These boards are expensive and you don't want to put money into risk because you might lose interest sometime during the lesson. Try finding a good skateboard which you may find in secondhand shop or in some sports store that give discounts. Once you start to learn and practice it more, you will be ready to buy an expensive skateboard.

Skateboarding Tips for Beginners #3 - Learn to Push Off

This is the part where many starters go through hard times. When pushing yourself ahead while on a skateboard you might get a problem which is your board going ahead of you. This is common mistakes that learners make. Never push yourself when both your feet parallel to each other. Try to step forward with a foot which should in front of the foot on skateboard. It is just like walking. You need to practice this more and in no time you will have the movement going.

Skateboarding Tips for Beginners #4 - Watch Your Stance

At this point you decide what type footed you are. There are types- regular footed, goofy footed and mongo footed. A regular footed person feels comfortable having the left foot forward while standing on the board.

Goofy footed person puts right foot forward while forwarding ahead. The mongo footed boarder feels push off the board forward by the back foot unlike regular boarders who do it by using their front foot. If you are doing this, then you must change doing it right away. Once you become regular footed then you will able to learn many tricks in future.

Skateboarding Tips for Beginners #5 - Turning/Stopping

After you've learned the footing techniques, let's move on how to turn and stop while you are on a skateboard. Turning the skateboard requires little technique which is adding more weight to your heels. You may not able to do this at first but do exactly what you are told to do. This is very important part and once you learn to turn the skateboard you will learn to make sharper turn. To make sharper turn you have to lift the front wheels as briefly as possible. Then point the direction during that short lift to where you want to head.

Now lets talk about how to stop when you moving on a skateboard. Basically there are two ways to do stop the board. One is by grinding the tail end of the skateboard on the ground. This is not recommended because eventually the skateboard will start to wear down. The second option to stop the moving skateboard is by making a reverse push. You do this by stopping the front foot and then pushing it in the opposite direction.

Longboards - A Look Into the Different Kinds of Longboards

A longboard is just like a skateboard, only longer. It is mostly used for transportation and for downhill racing among others because its form allows the user to easily maneuver through sharp street turns. Its longer and wider base offers more stability so riding it is relatively safer and, in most cases, more comfortable as compared to a shortboard.

Because longboards tend to be on the heavier side, they are unsuitable for performing tricks that are typical of skateboards. Many beginners also find it difficult to ride them at high speeds when going downhill. But on the upside, because of their weight, they also have allow for a more fluid motion through increased momentum.

Beginner Trick Skateboard

There are many different kinds of longboards available these days. Your choice is mostly dependent on your intended use. If you're new at longboarding, it's only normal to feel overwhelmed by the variety of decks that you can choose from.

Transportation - Those that are used for commuting or for transportation are the most common among the different kinds of longboards. These boards are 100-130 cm long and they don't have a short nose as is typical with other skateboards. They are more flexible and are known to offer a more comfortable ride. This type of longboard is also usually shaped like surfboards with trucks that are designed to allow the user to navigate through narrow turns.
Slalom - these longboards are mostly used for racing and navigating through small cones. They are 63-89 cm in length and are made of carbon fiber and other high tech materials. Shorter varieties are used for tighter courses while the longer ones are for faster and steeper courses.
Downhill - among the different types of longboards, this one is the most suitable for riding downhill at high speeds. This type is 95-110 cm long and has trucks that are attached to its ends. It can also come with a lowered platform.
